Rubicon’s New AmeriCorps Fellow!

Please welcome Eva Grenier, Rubicon’s new LISC AmeriCorps Fellow, who will be serving our local West Contra Costa community as a “Reentry Services and Green Collar Job Outreach Coordinator.”    Eva grew up in Weston, Connecticut and received her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Vassar College.   She became interested in social justice and community activism while taking a class conducted at a maximum security correctional facility, which was composed of both incarcerated men and Vassar College students.  That summer, she participated in a Community Fellowship at the HIV Planning Council of the Dutchess County Department of Health.  This position introduced her to HIV direct service organizations in the Greater Upstate NY area, as well as many other community based organizations.   The next year she served as a Community Action Coordinator where she cultivated a relationship between the Vassar College community and the local city, Poughkeepsie, through shared interests in Reentry and Mental Health services.   She was an intern at the Living Room of Mental Health America, as well as a member of Real Skills Network, a new organization working in youth violence prevention.   She also participated in a class called “Otisville-Vassar Bridging the Gap” at a medium security correctional facility as part of Transitional Services.   Prior to moving out to the Bay Area and starting the position at Rubicon Program, she was an intern at the Poughkeepsie Farm Project, a community supported farm committed to food access and food security.

Please welcome Eva to both Rubicon and our community.    She will certainly be an asset to our reentry services initiative in Contra Costa County!
