Rubicon Money Management Program
Rubicon Programs
provides money management services to individuals in Contra Costa County
in need of assistance with handling their finances. Most of these
clients receive SSI benefits. The Hawkins Center contributes to this
program by providing legal advice and training to Rubicon's money management
staff and by providing legal representation before the Social Security
Administration to individuals enrolled in the program whose SSI eligibility
is up for review.
The Rubicon Money Management Program is the only money management program
available in the county for people on SSI or Social Security.
Supportive Housing Program - ACCESS
Phoenix Programs administers the SHP-ACCESS program in Contra Costa County
which provides comprehensive case management and housing support to homeless
county residents. The goal of the program is to provide housing and
supportive services necessary to transition chronically homeless people
to permanent and stable housing.
The Hawkins Center plays a role in this program by providing benefits
advocacy. The Center's legal staff represents program participants
whose claims for SSI and Social Security disability benefits have been
previously denied. Center staff also provides legal advice and consultation
on matters affecting the program.
