We need your support for critical programs that guide more than 3,000 people to jobs, housing, and health care.
Rubicon has been making the East Bay a better place to be for more than 40 years: find out how.
Rubicon’s mission is to prepare very low-income people to achieve financial independence and to partner with people with mental illness on their journey of recovery.
Rubicon served more than 3,000 people across Alameda County and Contra Costa County last year. We placed nearly 500 unemployed people in jobs – more than at any point in our 40 year history. More than 1,400 children were positively impacted by our life-changing work with their parents. We reduced hospitalization rates for people with serious mental illness by 54%.
A nationally recognized nonprofit, Rubicon was founded in 1973. Rubicon is one of just five organizations nationwide to be awarded a special federal grant to make sure parents coming out of the criminal justice system can provide financial and emotional support for their children and stay on the right side of the law. The name “Rubicon” refers to a decision from which there is no turning back – the beginning of the journey to change.
People in our hardest hit communities need intensive support to access the jobs and opportunities that will enable them to move out of poverty. Rubicon finds support that’s right for each individual – a personalized, comprehensive suite of services that includes job placement, housing, legal services, and financial literacy. We place low-income East Bay residents in jobs and housing and get them access to legal services and healthcare. Rubicon serves the entire East Bay from offices in Berkeley, Hayward, Richmond, Concord, and Antioch.
