Providing Representation on Social Security & SSI Disability claims since 1986

The Hawkins Center has been representing clients with disabilities seeking Social Security Disability and SSI benefits for almost 30 years.  Our Social Security Advocacy team includes experienced attorneys who handle only Social Security cases and knowledgeable, highly trained advocates.

Having worked with thousands of clients and interacting with Social Security on a daily basis, we understand very well that the disability application process can be challenging and frustrating; that decisions often seem arbitrary or fail to take into account all of the person’s symptoms and limitations. We have worked with clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area suffering from all types of physical and mental health conditions; from clients who have never effectively been able to hold a job because of their disability, to individuals who have worked steadily for 30 years before being hit with an unexpected medical problem. Most people we represent have multiple, often complicated medical conditions. We do not shy away from difficult cases or difficult life situations.  We are here to here to help you understand your options and determine if you may qualify for disability benefits.

We treat all our clients with respect and compassion, no matter the circumstances. Our attorneys and advocates are available by phone and email. To discuss your situation and learn more about our services or the Social Security disability application process, we encourage you to contact us today.

The Hawkins Center serves clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including: Contra Costa County (Richmond, San Pablo, Pinole, El Sobrante, Martinez, Walnut Creek, Concord, Antioch, Pittsburg), Solano County (Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville), Alameda County (Berkeley, Oakland, Alameda, Emeryville, Hayward, Fremont), Marin County (San Rafael, Corte Madera, Marin City), and San Francisco.

"The Social Security lawyer I worked with was insightful and informational. She told me what rights I have and the more I spoke to her the more she helped me understand that I don’t have to suffer. I realized I don’t have to do it on my own."

"The Social Security staff and lawyers have sympathy, empathy and compassion. They cared what happened to me and gave me the opportunity to work with them and research what services and resources are available to me. It made getting benefits seem like a possibility."

"The Hawkins Center works with the total person. What impressed me was the wraparound services my advocate helped me with. I got connected to housing and became stable as a whole person, not just with getting my social security. I feel like a big load has been lifted off my body. I’m ready to move on to the next stage of my life."

"The Hawkins Center helps me at a level that I didn’t know was out there for me. They have a lot of heart and care for the people they work with."

"I called and talked to someone that scheduled an appointment with an attorney almost immediately. When I met with my attorney, she helped me sort through my case, she listened to me. She helped me obtain the documents I needed for my case and even when I waited to hear about my appeal, she kept in contact with me."

"Applying for benefits can be confusing and hard. I felt like my problems were mounting but The Hawkins Center made me feel like I had an asset in their support. I learned I could depend on them."
